City Seeking Building/Trade Contractors

The City of Oelwein is purchasing two homes from Homes for Iowa which is in collaboration with Iowa Prison Industries.  These homes are three-bedrom, two-bathroom (1,200 s.f.) ranch style homes and will be placed at 318 7th Street SW and 219 Lincoln Drive NE.

Homes are shipped directly from the manufacturing facility to the location and will be placed on a basement foundation constructed by others.  The city is looking for bids from local contractors to complete the foundation, mechanical/plumbing, electrical and flooring.

Blueprints are available at City Hall to assist with the bidding process.

All bids should be returned to Oelwein City Hall in a sealed envelope marked on the outside with the name of the contractor and "Homes for Iowa" and addressed to the Oelwein City Clerk, 20 Second Avenue SW, Oelwein, Iowa 50662.  Bids shall be received up to 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at which time all bids will be opened and read aloud by the City Clerk.  The bids will be forwarded to the City Council for review and consideration at the June 8, 2020 6:00 P.M. Council meeting.

The City reserves the right to accept or reject any bid or part of a bid received.
