Notice of Farm Land Rental

The City of Oelwein is accepting bids for rent of its 84 acres, more or less of crop land located in Section 24, Township 91 North, Range 10 West of the 5th PM generally known as the Oelwein Municipal Airport.

The terms of the lease offered are available for review at the Oelwein City Hall. Bidders are on notice that the winning bidder will be afforded the opportunity to rent an additional 31 acres m/l of reserve acreage to which the tenant would apply Biosolids as directed by the City of Oelwein. Interested persons shall submit a written bid with a lump sum price for a three year rental agreement. The highest responsive bidder will receive possession on March 1, 2019.

Bids shall include a lump sum offered for the 84 acres rented and a lump sum for the 31 reserved acres. All rent payments will be made March 1 of each year.

All written bids must be received at Oelwein City Hall, 20 Second Avenue SW, Oelwein, Iowa prior to 12:00 noon on Thursday, February 21, 2019 for review by the Oelwein City Council on Monday, February 25, 2019.

The City of Oelwein reserves the right to reject all offers.

Rental Property Registration

The City of Oelwein's new Rental and Vacant Building Program is now in effect.  Property owners must register their rental property before March 1, 2019.  A list of associated fees can be found here.

A reminder to all residential properties in Oelwein.  Black Hawk Waste garbage and recycling totes are address specific and stay with the property.  Totes are not to be moved to a new residence.
