Wastewater Treatment Plant

The Oelwein wastewater facility is the First Intermittent Cycle Extended Aeration (ICEAS) process, Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) facility in the State of Iowa. Oelwein maintains its own certified lab and is heavily regulated by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

The City maintains five lift stations, 500 manholes, approximately 30 miles of sewer mains and treats 800,000 gallons of waste per day.
