Water and Sewer Rate Increases

On May 28, 2024 Oelwein City Council had voted to increase water and sewer rates for the city. These rate increases will work towards improving the city’s infrastructure. Funding will work towards a 10-year project schedule including water, sewer, and street repairs. These rate increases will ultimately save the city over $3.4 million in interest payments if the same amount was borrowed. A household using 550 cubic feet of water will see their bill increase $28.61. These rates will only apply to only the water and sewer portion, all other rates will remain. Please remember, water and sewer rates are based on usage. The amount of usage your household used can be found in the upper left portion of your bill. New rates will be seen on the July 31st billing.
